Say goodbye to those days of mashing and spreading. Instead, make all of those avocado toast dreams come true by cutting your avocado into cute lil cubes, substituting smoked salmon for some sesame crusted ahi tuna, tossing in some fresh cucumber and then marinating it in a sweet, citrus, soy marinade.
Step aside mashed avocado, smoked salmon, everything bagel seasoning and tomatoes. There is a new kind of avocado toast in town. These Ahi Tuna Grilled Sourdough Toasts are light, refreshing and come together in the blink of an eye.
My undying love for anything asian forward with fresh fish combined with some sort of carbohydrate (aka anything that tastes like sushi, poke bowls, etc.) is no secret. So, it should come as no surprise that this is my new favorite avocado toast go to and I can thank Trader Joe’s for that.
Finding ahi tuna that you feel confident enough to consume raw when it isn‘t provided by a sushi restaurant can be confusing, intimidating and hard. And the thought of even preparing a meal like that at home by yourself could seem almost impossible. But, with this recipe there is no need to worry! I gotchu! I took Trader Joe’s sesame crusted smoked ahi tuna package and turned it into the most wonderful thing. You can easily make this for breakfast, a quick midday snack, a beyond easy dinner or even if you are entertaining guests on the weekends! It is a well rounded recipe that is ideal for anytime of the day and for any occasion.
Pardon me, but I am still swooning over this recipe. I love this one for so many reasons. One of the reasons I love it so much is because it is such a versatile recipe. If you aren’t digging the grilled sourdough toast and are craving a little more crunch, you can absolutely turn this into a dip/ceviche style and enjoy them with crackers. If you are looking for a little more carbs or want a bowl for dinner, serve this with some rice instead and create your own little poke bowl right at home.
Outside of my asian and fresh fish obsession, I also have a great love for sourdough bread. Sometimes my mornings aren’t complete without avocado toasts on sourdough. I love the tang flavor it has, there is just something about it that is so satisfying. So, I knew it was a must, to include it in this recipe.
When it comes to grilling the sourdough, that is completely up to you. I love the burnt grill marks as added flavor to my toasts (and no I do not do this every morning ha). But, when I have the extra time on my hands, I will grill them over a grill pan or on the grill outside as opposed to toasting them in the toaster. So, going back to this recipe being so versatile, it is even versatile in the way you choose to toast your bread. What more could you want in a recipe!?

I am feeling major summertime vibes over here. These toasts are bright in color, contain fresh ingredients and are oh so flavorful. Incorporating ahi tuna with cucumbers and cubed avocado is a new way to enjoy avocado toasts.
